Your coaches and parents are all proud of you!!!!!! Now we need to focus on the state championship tournament May 5-6. More information can be found by highlighting the Home tab above, then clicking on the Tournament Permission Slips tab, and then clicking on the Permission Slip and Needs List files.
March 1st...GOOD JOB Spartans parents, players, family, and coaches. On March 1st, McDonald's on Dyer St. allowed us to do another McDonald's Appreciation Night from 5-8 pm. We raised $694.00 breaking our old record! These funds will help us register our players with USA Rugby. Way to go everyone!
Jan. 21st... we took third place in the 1st Annual Southwest Youth Rugby Invitational (SWYRI) in Mesa, Az going 2-1, losing to Red Mountain, but then deafeting West Valley and Old Pueblo rugby u-19 teams. We did good out there Spartans but we still need a lot of work to do out there.
Dec. 31st...We were invited at the last minute to sell concessions at the Sun Bowl. Fortunately we were able to gather enough players and parents to participate. We sold about $9,050.00 and made about $840.00 (the check is still pending). Congrats fellow spartans on another successful fundraiser!!!
Dec. 17th...Another sucessful fundraiser took place today at our bake sale at the Transmountain Walmart from 8am-12 noon. Our goal was to raise $600 and we missed our goal by $50 again. But thats ok because compared to last year's Walmart bake sale we made $360. We had many people flat out donate from a few dollars up to $40 and that was with out taking any food items from us. Our boys and volunteers braved cold winds to make this sale a success. Thank you goes out to all the parents that baked items and a special thanks goes to the parents of Tyler, Geoffrey, Joseph Morales, Joey Barraza, Garret, Charles, Abraham, Jenny, and my own kids, Billy and Jessica. We are getting closer to getting our dues and debts paid off. Good job Spartan family!
Dec. 9th...The Operation Santa Claus Rugby Game Toy Drive was another success. We gathered 220 toys, still short of our goal of 500 yet after some people helped me realize that is still 220 happy children that will be served, it is a success. Those are 220 children that may not have received anything this Christmas. Good job to all those that participated! Thank you.
Dec. 1st...The McDonald's fundraiser was a success. We sold $3,280.00 made and $656 for the team, missing their regional record by a mere $50.00. There were so many people that they had to park at Burger King because of a lack of parking and there was a line to enter the restaurant. Thank you first of all to McDonald's for allowing us the opportunity to do this event. Next off thank you to all the wonderful parents that gave up their precious time to take orders, make fries, and such. Thanks to all the Spartan players for working the event and selling landyards and to those that wore the jerseys with the McDonld's flyer taped to their chest. Special thanks goes to Christie Sparger for making and donating the new Spartan team banner. It looks awesome. And thank you to Jacob Martinez for Facebooking and promoting the event and for working the drive-thru. And finally thank you goes out to all the people that purchased McDonald's including, teachers, parents, friends, family, and former players such as Mike Milam, Abraham Ontiveros, Momosito, Ingrid, Rocio, and Nissan.
First Scrimmage is Dec. 9th at Chapin on the main field from 3:30-4:15. We are charging one brand new and unwrapped toy to be able to attend. All toys will be donated to the U .S. Army's Operation Santa Claus. This scrimmage will be an inter-squad scrimmage.
